Hi all -
I'm watching the Military Channel. In the World War II segment about Mac's invasion of the Phllipines there was a scene showing an F6F Hellcat taking off from a carrier. It was Olive Drab.
Was this a 'colorizing' mistake or did the US navy have OD Hellcats?

I've never seen an OD Hellcat and it certainly would not have not have been an official service camo scheme. It could be a colorizing mistake, or if it was original color film a product of the aging of the dyes.

John -
I thought about aging film but I don't think that was it. It was too definite, too obvious. I think your right - it was a colorizing mistake.
