Now, I love a sea plane, Whether it be a float pane or a flying boat, I don't think there is one that doesn't do it for me. So the opportunity to build Karaya's Supermarine Seamew for the Between the Wars Campaign was just too good to pass up.
I purchased this kit last year through Jadarhobby. A full Resin kit with some etched parts and decals in beautiful register.
The cockpit goes together quite well (ensure that you dry fit, dry fit and dry fit again), and before you know it, the fuselage halves are together.
I'm working on the wings at the moment. More pics soon.
Cheers,
Hugh

Hi Stephen,
If any, it will just be a hard stand. This little boat was fitted with folding undercart similar to that you would see on a Walrus. I guess that makes it almost amphibian, although I would not want to see it try to take off or land on such fragile struts.
So yes, if I have time before the end of April, it will sit on a hard stand... In fact I think it might be forced to, as the structure of the aircraft might be too fragile to just sit on a shelf...
I am ready to start painting. Any one want to see this used as a tutorial on masking and spraying roundels?
Cheers,
Hugh

Have you considered replacing the fragile struts with brass?

The main components are now ready for some paint.
I have set my self a challenge. I am going to try to replicate the effect of the planking on the upper half of the fuselage... Lots of masking ahead I think.
Cheers,
Hugh

OK, Here the Wings have been given a prime with Tamiya Primer(L) from a rattle can and then a few coats of Tamiya Flat Aluminium Acrylic.
I have then cut masks from 40MM Tamiya Tape using my trusty blade fitted to a Bow Compass, using the Kit decals as a reference.
Now, I place the Outer of the mask on the wing and mask around it so as to avoid any over-spray.

Next, I get together the paints that I will be using for my roundels, as shown below.
And Spray the base of the roundel in Flat White.
Then, place the two rings of the mask that I created, using the outer one to ensure that the inner is concentric to the outer mask.
And remove the outer ring.

Now, Spray the Blue and the Red...
Remove the masks and we have our roundels... Some clean up may be required.
Cheers,
Hugh
