I am currently building the Roland and recently finished the Albatross III weekend editions. I got them for about the same price you mentioned. I liked both kits. They were pretty well detailed while remaining basic. The only problem I had was with some of the decals. A few adhered to the model surface immediately and shattered when I tried to move them. None of the setting solutions seemed to make them unstick. But this only occurred with a few of the decals so it may have solely been my fault. I did, however, have the problem with both kits.
I would recommend them based on my experience. I have the Nieu 16 waiting in the wings.
Good luck.

hello Mike,
dumb question, but what problems did you have.i have heard that it is tricky to put on the struts and wings to get them straight.
thanks for any info you can give me.

Setting solution isn't used for unsticking decals. It softens them so the will adhere to irregular surfaces better. As a result if you use it, and then try to move the decal, chances are it is going to tear easily. If in the future, if your decals stick, use a paint brush loaded with water and get it under the decal. The water will help float the decal off the surface so it can be repositioned. Usually once a decal has setting solution on it, it isn't a good idea to try and move it. The Eduard kits are excellent. They are their regular kits without all the bells and whistles of PE, masks etc. Well worth the $10 IMO.The only problem I had was with some of the decals. I think they are worth the money. They make up into pretty good representations. As with all biplanes, you need to get everything on straight. The price is good. Go for it.

I amnot an exceptionally experienced modeller, but did not have too much trouble placing the struts on each of these models. The Albatross was my first attempt and I used regular Tenax and testor's cement for it. The struts tended to wander a bit while the glue set. For the Roland, I borrowed a technique I read about here and used some CA glue and built a temporary jig to hold things, essentially scrap cardboard with slots cut out approximately where the wings should go. I had more success with this. I am definitely still learning and can say that this, and rigging, are the two largest challenges you will face with these models. But I do not think this would be any different if the kit was manufactured by someone else. Good luck. I think you will like the models and you can't argue with the price.
