Nobody's mentioned "Lady Be Good"
I remember when everyone in the world seemed to be focused on this A/C
So really, fame is a fleeting thing.

Good call Charles "Lady Be Good" should be in the top ten. Guys my age will remember "Puff the Magic Dragon" too.
To that end I think perhaps both the Lisa Marie and the Gossamer Albatross are questionable

To my mind, if the name of the individual plane is mentioned, and the 'ordinary man in the street' can immediately picture the individual aircraft it in his mind, then it is famous.

I'm surprised no one mentioned "A Bit 'o Lace" (B17) or "This Is It!" (P51). I don't remember the units, but I'm pretty sure they are genuine (especially the latter); I'm sure there are more 7 I'm not even an aeroplane buff. How about the Halifax with Goerings quote on - "No enemy plane will fly over the Reich" - & 100 missions recorded.

After all the hubbub last year, no one has mentioned "Glacier Girl"

"This is it!" or ('Gina-this is it!' as it was originally named) was Col. Joe Mason's P-51. He flew with the 328th FS 'Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney'
