I have started my Do217E-5 and have almost completed the cockpit interior. Not going to badly but I removed the radio operators seat as it didn't seem like it wanted to fit where it was supposed to. I have trimmed the port leg a little and I think that will cure the problem. The seat belts are Eduard pre-painted for bombers, but I don't have complete references so I don't know how accurate they are, but they will look the part once the canopy is on.
Howard, I have been trying to contact you, ref your masks, can you drop me a PM or e-mail please, ta.

Good start. You always do good interiors.

Thanks Carl
After a little trimming of the instrument panel, just so that it didn't protrude beyond the outside of the interior section, and numerous dry fittings I got the cockpit interior fitting nicely into the fuselage halves. It seems to require forcing, but when lined up correctly it fits quite nicely. There will be a very slight gap at the front on top, but nothing to worry about.

The instructions say to fit the fuselage top, with inner upper wings, then fit the lower wings then the outer upper wings. Na, ya don't wanna do that do ya I fitted the outer upper wings to the inner upper wings first, resulting ina very nice fit I then glued the whole assembly the the lower fuselage This was also a pretty good fit.
When I offered the lower wings up the the upperwing and fuselage they were going to leave a slight gap at the fuselage. To rectify this I simply glued the lower wings to the fuselage first, and when secure joined the wing halves.
This method produced a nearly flawless wing/fuselage join The tail cone was added but this required some drastic internal surgery, before it would even get near, but only a couple of minutes work, with a scalpel. It didn't fit too well either so I got the best fit on the top and will have to sand the sides and lower parts to fit, but no great drama.

Doesn't that sort of suggest that you expect it not to be so good later on?

Yes I'm itching to get the thing painted but I still haven't finished cleaning up the wing and fuselage joints. Not that they're bad, just that I've been working on other projects.
