Hello Everyone!
This is my first post on this forum, hope it goes well!
I have recently finished my B-17 built and i have posted some photos of it on Hyperscale a week or two ago.
This fortress is a Revellogram kit.
I have used some after market accessories:
-Verlinden Upgrade
-Eduard B-17G Flying Fortress cockpit interior
-True Details Wheels
-Super Scale Decals
-Meteor Productions Pyn-Up Decals (purchased them about 3 weeks before they went out of business, still can't believe my luck, phew!)
All comments, suggestions, questions are very, very welcome.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking!

Very nice!!!! Interesting choice of aircraft, that particular plane suffered damage to engines 2 and 3 on 16 march 1944, and headed for switzerland landing at Dubendorf airfield. She spent the remainder of the war there and returned to england in the summer of 1945. The nose art was painted by Tony Starcer. And that's all that I know.
Can you post up another pic or of the interior if you have one. Especially the radio room and nose.

Very nice build Great to look at.
Minor critique is to add a few more shadows/pin washes around the trim tabs, maybe in the wheel wells. Nothing big.

Nice aircraft. I love the noseart. Probably not dirty enough for my taste but still nice. I was blown away by the interior pic and how much detail is hidden inside. Nice job.

Nice bird. Nice details - especially on the interior. I cannot imagine how big this one is in 1/48.

Hi Stas, just echoing what everyone else has said - looks awesome! Having one of these in my stash that I (really do) plan to build one day, I have a couple of questions for you...
How long did it take you to finish?
What was the quality of the upgrades you used like - I've been eying off the Big Ed set, but was wondering particularly about what the Verlinden set was like?
And how did the Pyn-Up decals work?? I've heard the nose art can be a bit fiddly. I managed to get myself a copy of Pyn Up's set for Little Miss Mischief (a half OD, half -natural metal B-17G) just before Meteor closed down, which I am keen to use...
Thanks in advance!
cheers Brad

Hello Jeremy!
You are perfectly correct on the information about the aircraft. I did not the dates on which she was hit though. Thank you for sharing that with me.
As you requested, I am posting more photos of the interior.
Ia m giving you all I got. And all of those photos are WIP, so a some things might be rather different now. Sadly, I don't have any good photos of the radio room. but everything there is pretty much OOB.
Hope this helps

Hello Scott!
Thanks a lot for critique! Very much appreciated, that is just what I need! And you are correct, wheel wells are way too clean. Could you be more specific about the trim tabs though...
Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot Bryan!
Glad to hear that you were impressed with the interior!

Bryan, I hear you. I love to dirty up my models!get them to look like they are really being used. But I had to very very careful with this one, not to over do it too much because this particular aircraft has only flown 6 missions. I figure that is nothing and that there could have not been too much wear and tear. Trust me, it was a challenge for me to make a clean build!.
Hope that explains it!.
Thanks again for nice comments on the build!

To add to my comment - the trim tab is the small fin on the rudder (and on second look the alerons too).
Just mix a touch of black oil paint (or ink) with thinner/terp. then let it run down the groove/seam. This set off and accentuates the lines and brings the piece to life a bit.

Hello Brad!
Glad to hear that you like her.
Now to answer your questions.
1) How long did it take you to finish?
Well, it took me about a year. But that is considering that I had built 2 other models (Eduard's I-16 and FW 190 A-5) during that time. I could not just focus on one build that big. Even though it was a very exciting build, it would just get a bit monotonic. Plus I am fairly new to the hobby, so I am rather slow still. B-17 is the 6th model I have built (was 4th when I had first started it). And besides that I am physics student who works 2 jobs, so unfortunately there is not too much time for the hobby. I am sure you could build it a lot faster then I did.
2) What was the quality of the upgrades you used like - I've been eying off the Big Ed set, but was wondering particularly about what the Verlinden set was like?
Big Ed set looks great! But I don't think that i would use it unless I am building a clear B-17 (which I am hoping to do in the future). As you can see from my photos a lot of the detail is not visible after the model is complete. Even though BIG Ed has EVERYTHING(mostly) you might need for the whole airplane, Verlinden focuses on exterior items, bombardiers and navigators compartment that can be visible after the halves are joined. However, there is absolutely nothing for the Pilots Compartment. Eduard helped me out there.
Overall it is a really nice upgrade.
Detailing of Bombardier’s and Navigator's compartments is excellent. Everything is there, oxygen bottles, fire extinguishers, instruments, ammunition boxes and a ton of other little things. There are oxygen tanks for the whole aircraft, and I still have some left.
Norden Bombsight was a disappointment. I think the one from the kit is much nicer. Same story with all the Brownings. I think that Brownings that come with the kit are much better representation then Verlinden.
What else? Oh, exhausts are very useful, though it a pain to cut away the old once! So is the landing gear replacement, makes a great deal of difference.
And I loved the fact that I could open the crew hatch and bomb bay doors.
You also get the Pumpkin Turret replacement. You do need to come up with your own clear parts for it though.
I can take some photos of Verlinden instruction sheet if you like and give you some photos of the upgrade.
3)And how did the Pyn-Up decals work??
First of all I am really glad to hear that you got Meteor decals before they went out. I had the same luck! The decals a big tricky to work with, you have to be careful and patient with the nose art. Just take your time and you will be fine. You got a set for a very interesting aircraft! Can't wait to see it.
Make sure to contact me if you have any other questions, perhaps during the build.
Glad to help.
