Hi all!
I haven't posted any of my aircraft over here before, so I thought I'd slap my 2 most recent builds up. The first is a 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109 and the second is a 1/48 Hasegawa AH-64A Apache. I had some photos of some really dirty Apaches operating in Iraq - I'm surprised the pilot could even see out the window! I tried to mimick that a bit. I hope you like them.

Hey Joe,
That Bf-109 looks good...especially the spotted camo...
And the subtle weathering is great....
How was the assembly for this Tamiya kit ?

Thanks for the comments guys!
The process I used for the Apache was preshading then multiple thin coats of Model Masters U.S Helo Drab. Then a wash, drybrushing and MIG Pigments. The pigments were done in 2 passes - I think it was Gulf War Sand - I applied them once to the point that I was happy with the effect, then sealed them which really toned it down. Then I applied them again and sealed them lightly again, leaving the diry look on the finished model.
The Tamiya kit was superb. I was really impressed. The detail is very good, the fit is extremely good and I would happily recommend the kit to anyone. Looking at the photos now, I should have spent more time on the wheels - they are a bit plain and too glossy. Otherwise I am very happy with how it turned out.

Just a couple of things. Knock the gloss finish on the tires and struts down. Second, the rotorhead on an Apache is a gunmetal color, not green

Hi Joe,
Fantastic Apache build, I'm 99.9999% away from completing my Hasegawa one but I have a sticking point - the red 'thing' on the top (apologies - I've no idea what's it's for)... where did you find a good reference for it? The box art (below) doesn't give me much clue, and the instructions are vague to say the least.
I've built the grey one by the way, and the only pics I've found are on Flickr and not clear enough to see definatively what colour it is? The user that posted the pics up - has since gone, lucky I finished the build before, his pictures really helped!
ANY help would be great as it's the only thing stopping me from posting my pics up
