This is a Tamiya 1/48 Bf109E-3 in the markings of Werner Molders (JG 53) in the Battle of France. It was painted with Xtracrylics RLM 65 on the underside, RLM 71, RLM 70 on the upper surfaces and the fuselage sides are RLM 02 with RLM 70 mottle. I am not happy with how close in colour the RLM 70 and 71 appear. If I use them again I will lighten the 71 to get more contrast.
All criticisms are welcome.

...I like it too..very good job Martin ! I don't think you need to worry about the greens ..looking at the pics of the 'real' machine there appears to be minimal 'scale' contrast...

Looks very nice indeed!
And as already mentioned, RLM70 and 71 were actually pretty close to each other, so close that seeing color demarcation lines in b/w photos can be tricky.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I have since read that the two greens were very close in colour but I still think I should have lightened one of them.

hi Martin,
Have to agree with everyone, a 10/10 build. The camo looks spot on to me, I think should you have lightened one colour it would make it just look wrong. One of the reasons Luftwaffe camo colours look so close when they are sprayed was, even though there is a noticeable difference in the colours, when the paint wass applied the didn't follow convention and sprayed the darker colour first. This would have the effect of darkening the lighter colours, so, in IMHO, you have it dead right.

Hi Martin
Excellent work as usual! I agree with the comments about the RLM 70/71 - the contrast between them is very slight in many wartime photos.
I know you have a somewhat drastic space-saving solution for your kits once they're finished - you really should submit them as On-Displays to save them for posterity and give them the frontpage prominence they deserve!
All the best

Thanks or that info Steve, I didn't know that. It does explain the low contrast.

LOL I now have a display cabinet (Thanks Mrs Brandydog) so I have a small collection starting to build up.

Hi Martin
Excellent! I still remember the cries of horror when you announced your "I've built it, so I'll bin it!" form of storage!
