Guys, just have posted some pics of the biplane assembly jig. This time it's the one by Sram.

More pics inside the blog:

ordered mine today from hobbyshop.cz. Currently not in stock though there or at modelimex. Anyone find this anywhere else?
Seen the aeroclub one demoed, it was really something else. Very good indeed.
The sram one is a more basic but fits my budget better and should be good enough.

very neet tool to have on the work bench . Most of the time I use a mini level and ruler with makes on my work bench along with cardboard . This would simplify it so much easier thanks for sharing this info

went and checked hobbyshop.cz and its 39.30 euro and that translates into 60.81 U.S so I will have to wait to find it a little less expensive.

As always when it comes to tools, they don´t come at cut-price, but very useful and some kind off investment.
Maybe I’ll get one off those.

I agree its worth buying, tools almost always are. But right now I have to hold off and see what my job will be doing in the near future. I Swear anyone that is considering a job in Aviation maintenance should be locked up for their own safety

I bought mine for less than 20 Euros on Modelimex here.

pJesper, that's exactly the thing I told you about. Really handy stuff.

JP, that's why I've chosen Sram's jig - the price and it seems more basic than Aeroclub's. It took 15 minutes for me to assemble the jig.

Lars, that's exactly what are my thoughts about the tools. This one is really worth the investment - I have 5, as far as I remember, unbuilt biplanes on the shelf. One thing that stops me from going on with Ni-17 on the jig - the lack of a decent Le Rhone 1/48 engine. Just can't find the shop selling Vector 1/48 engines.

It would be a good investment , but at this time my budject is telling me different things . I'll keep doing it the same way i have been , it works for me just fine either that or I have been watching to much RED GREEN and duct tape is the best solution

Hi Arseny

Thanks for the heads-up. It looks excellent! I think I'll definitely have to grab one of these myself when Petr has them back in stock at Modelimex.

Could you write a Review for us? - it's exactly the kind of item we need covered in the Tools section.

All the best

Larsa, thanx for advice! But no luck with hobbyeasy - they seem to be out of Le Rhone Vector 1/48 resin engines.. Anyway, thank you for advice!

Rowan, Petr really helped me to get the jig. That's the most customer friendly service I have ever experienced purchasing hobby stuff online. I use Modelimex to buy Czech's and Eastern European products (I only wish they could stock Karaya's items).. As for the Review:

- No probs! Let's do it!

What are the major requirements for the Review?

Hi again Arseny

You've already got the basis over on your excellent blog (just e-mail me the pics without your logo on them). If you can add a description of what the jig consists of (materials used, durability, etc.) and how it works out in use (how easy or fiddly it is and whether it stays locked and stable once you've set it up), we'll be ready to go.

All the best

Rowan, text (although I guess it needs little bit editing and images are ready. Let me know where I should post them.

Cheers Arseny

All received, safe and sound.

Let me take this opportunity to encourage all the Early-Birders - this is one of the liveliest and most informative areas of the Forum (thanks Stephen! ) but still way under-represented in our Reviews and Features sections. There's SO much talent on display here - let's get much more of it on the Front-page!

All the best

Has anyone who ordered the jig from Modelimex (Rowan for example) since this review received one?
I'm still waiting for them to come in for my order.
Seem to be a bit thin on the ground.

I ordered mine from hobbyshop.cz on August 25th , and just recieved a request for payment via PayPal for the item, meaning its back in stock and ready to ship upon payment.

Kelly, when I ordered the jig from them, it was 17 euros, plus shipping and handling, which brought the price up to about 42 euros, your $60 equivalent. But the request for payment from PayPal was for 23 Euros, or about $35.00. I'm not sure why, maybe they took off costs associated with VAT in Europe, so it may not be as expensive as you think.

Now comes the hard part....waiting for the mailman!

Cheers,
Mike

Took about 2 weeks for me from handing over the money, shipped to GB from CZ.
You'll want to get cracking with it straight away, I've used it for monoplanes as a jig/holder. Really handy

Not a problem, Kelly. I could tell from the thread you were interested in one. When I was pleasantly surprised that the total price requested was less than the website calculation showed, I thought I'd share.

Two weeks, JP? Well, I guess I can wait....who am I kidding...I'm pulling out all those Roden and Eduard kits I've had stashed for years tonight...which will be first???

Cheers,
Mike
