I'm building the Tamiya Focke Wulf Fw190A8/A8R2 in 1/48 and am in need of a few pics of this plane in configuration C, I think it's the ground attack role. Also, this kit came with racks for wing mounted munitions along with rockets and bombs, but the instructions say they are not used. My question is, can they be used, i.e. anybody have any pics of this set up. If these cannot be used, what kit are these parts also found in, they seem like they would be a nice addition to a finished kit and would like to try to get my hands on the kit that these are used in. Thank you for your time and as always, your help

Hi Josh,
...Although they were specialist bomber destroyers, IV./(Sturm) JG3 were briefly deployed to Normandy after the landings where they flew Jabo sorties...there are pics of the a/c bombed up...IIRC they only carried bombs on the centreline station. The pics aren't terribly clear...I'll try and dig them out... there's a page of info about their deployment on my web site...

Hi Josh
The rockets and bombs are leftovers from Tamiya's Fw 190F-8, which their 'A-8 used some sprues from. I don't think the 'F-8 is in production at the moment. but you can probably still pick one up if you hunt around.
All the best

..bombed-up black-cowled Sturm fighter would make a great subject - the only pic I can locate without going through the books is this one...but as this is an 'official' shot I've not scanned it in ...

I am just about done with the contruction of this wonderful kit, just a few little pieces left and the clean up of excess glue and such. I can honestly say that this has me hooked on 1/48 aircraft. hopefully this week I'll have it painted, don't know though the airbrush is giving me trouble
