thanks Terri

I did this kit probably 4 years ago or so and the rigging seems to have loosened a bit ....but yes I like her lines...she looks appropriately "old"lol

I am impressed. Nicely Done! Though a couple of your images are appearing with the dreaded red "X"

yes they were fine when I first posted....I seem to have other peoples pics in my personal file also...
The seat is an eduard photo-etch seat faced with brass screen and lined along the edge with twisted armature wire...simple

Jim,
Very nice indeed, especially on an old soldier like that smer kit. That kit mold has to be close to 50 years old, you make it shine like a teenager.

thank you all...I really appreciate the kind words. Yes I did ALOT of sanding as you who are familiar with the kiit know. I probably took about 2 pounds of plastic off the wings and cupola..threw away the cockpit,engine,spars,struts,wheels..The Windsock datafine was indispensable. The wheels are Eduard.....the engine and prop are Aeroclub..bezels are Toms Modelworks...struts are Contrail

I have the Eduard DH 2 profipack. I pull it out a few times each year, open it up, and try to figure out what it would take to do justice to it. I then put it away wishing I had more skill. After I saw your build, I took it out again. Maybe next year. Sigh.

Carl , it will come to you . The tailbooms will be the real challege . I have the profipack in 1/48 as well as the non profipack in 1/48 and one in 1/72 . I even have the BlueMax kit as well . Plus I srcatchbuilding one in 1/48 , was the smer kit , but I only ended up using the two fuselge halfs . I'm taking a break from that one do to I can't find anything suitable to use for the tailbooms . Just take your time and if you need help , just have to ask my friend !

I work in a greenhouse(I dont sell flowers,I sell ponds) ,so one of the supplies handy is florists wire...wich comes in many handy guages. I used the heavy guage stuff for the tailbooms and cut it with my dremel cutoff disc to ensure the ends didnt bend during the process.

Hi Jim
Fantastic work! The seat is a marvel - despite you saying it's simple!
Are you going to tighten the rigging again? A build as good as this deserves to be pampered.
All the best
Rowan

Well, thank gods for that! At my current build rate, I have enough to keep me going until I am 150.
Cheers,
Hugh
