Once again Hobby Lobby has the forty percent coupon this week, and being on a modeling budget now by swmbo I need to know what in your opinion is worth getting and what is worth passing up. I am still working on the last one that was recommended the folke wulf and hope to have it done this weekend, if the airbrush works. Here's what I'm trying to decide between.
Tamiya Republic P47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop 1/48
Tamiya Messerschmitt Bf 109E 4/7 1/48
Tamiya A10 Thunderbolt II 1/48
Tamiya Japanese Mitsbushi A6M2 Zero Fighter 1/48
Yes i am hooked on the tam line of 1/48 stuff. If, however there is something else that I should consider feel free to let me know. The first time I asked this and went to the store they were out of the recommended kit so I bought a different one instead of going to the store twenty minutes away to get the right one. What I got sucked and about turned me off of aircraft, but when I did get the recommended kit I loved it. So I ask you, what would be a good kit to get for my second or really third aircraft? Thank you ahead of time for the advice.

Hi Josh
P-47 and Bf 109 are very good (the P-47 is considered one of the best engineered models to date).
Forget the A-10.
The Zero is old, but not bad, but Tamiya is just starting a new A6M line (the A6M-5 just out) so I would not spend too much bucks on that one
HTH
cheers

I think that the P-47 and the Bf109 are the ones to go after. Both kits, to me, are great kits and don't need much filling at all. I have the Bf 109 E kit and am looking forward on starting it soon.

Hi Josh,
I concur: go for the Tamiya Republic P47D or Messerschmitt Bf 109E 4/7. They are virtually "shake the box" kits, i.e., go together well despite how hard one tries to monkey them up (speaking from experience.)
If H.L. has any Accurate Miniature kits, they would be worth your consideration, too.

Hi,
109 for me, I am doing one for the Aces Campaign. Tamiya kit is good as there are a couple of options to build, you can make it into an E-3, E-4 or E-7. Good decal options too..

Hi Josh!
Go for the Tam P-47D/M (Bubbletop or Razorback), all are really great kits and very easy to build.
Next choice is the Tam Bf109, same here as above, all are great kits and very easy to build.
Tamiyas Zero is a great little kit, even if it´s quite old by now.
Easy to build but quite sparse with detail in the cockpit, and very fine raised panel lines.
But if you get it cheap, buy it and build it and have fun with it!
If you want a "up-to-date" Zero, Tam will release a totally new-tool Zero very soon.
For what I know it could already be out?
Perhaps You can make this your next build!
Forget the A-10, It´s an old kit with raised panellines and little detail, and the prototype was a real protoype (or pre-series).
This very early version differs much from the aircraft as it appears today.
Happy building whatever you choose, and remember to have FUN!
Cheers!

Josh,
As everyone is saying the Tamiya P-47 is a complete joy to build. Wonderful, wonderful kit!
As for the accurate miniatures kits, I have the dauntless and it looks like it will be a great one to build. In general, most of their kits seem to be pretty well respected but slightly more involved than the Tamiya kits.
Good luck,
Allen

Go with the P47 unless they have the Accurate Miniatures B-25. Mine had it and I passed on it. I have not seen it since then, over a year ago.

I got one (B25-B) at Hobby Lobby a few months ago for $15.00. They are also available at Great Models. I believe Red Wrath is on sale. Great Kit. Two in the stash.
