News for all you modelers (and I don't mean all of you posing in front of the mirror...) Scott Brown from Afterburner Decals had been planning on releasing a sheet of 1/48th scale decals of Torrejon’s own Lucky Devils while deployed to Qatar - with several members of the unit assisting with research.
This Desert Shield – Desert Storm deployment marked the final time the 401st went into battle, after serving through WWII flying B-17’s and Vietnam with F-100’s.
Good news is that the decals are now listed for a Fall of 2008 release (Sept-Oct) and the artwork looks great - I'll have a link up on the Lucky Devils website (http://www.lucky-devils.net) to see for yourself within the next day or two. The aircraft in the lineup for the decals are currently: F-16C’s 86-0288, 87-0221, 87-0223, 87-0226, 87-0228, 87-0242, 87-0248 & 87-0257, although there may be a little 'movement' on the final serial numbers.
There is a lot of interest on the modeling websites about the Lucky Devils markings, which will help keep our history alive. Many thanks Scott! To thank him for yourself, or to get your name on the list, you can contact him at: http://www.afterburnerdecals.com
