Hi guys

I need to tab into the resources of the Aeroscale community once again. I am increasing my stash considerably with FW 190 A-8s. Therefore I went on the hunt in my references for unique and interesting colour schemes. I found some as shown below.

In my references from Kagero I have found some really interesting colour schemes of FW 190s from JGr. 10 at Parchim airfield in Germany in the Summer and Autumn of 1944. I have the decals for both versions. One is a FW 190A-8 and the other a FW 190A-7. It should be pretty straight forward to back date an A-8 to an A-7, so I believe I could build either aircraft.

I checked all my books yesterday evening and did not find any real photos of these interesting markings. I am sure Kagero did not make something like this without having any photos of the real aircraft. However, I would like to see a few photos before I start turning one of Eduards FW 190s with tons of PE into one of these schemes.

Can anybody help with photos of any of the aircraft below?

Hi Jesper

Try to get the EagleCals .. they have pix in the sheet (IIRC ... my memory plays tricks some times)

http://www.eagle-editions.com/decal35.htm

maybe Neil will add a comment too.

cheers

Steffen

p.s. did a short search on HS Plane Talking and from a comment there it seems there are no pix included. I know I have seen 2 or 3 pix of the a/c in a disc thread ... but where ????

p.p.s. Here is a build of a 32 scale model by Jerry Crandell with further hints (e.g. no outboard guns)

http://hsfeatures.com/features04/fw190a832jc_1.htm

p.p.p.s. found one single pic from the Alexander Steenbeck coll. online. Must be from Luftwaffe im Focus or Jet & Prop ...

I have the decals also, in 1/32 scale. I really need to build some 190's. I have six of them, not including the Royal, and two more on the way. Is it time for a 190 Campaign?

Excellent, Steffen!!! Vielen vielen danke

Actually it seems like the colour profile is pretty accurate. Here there are also no outboard guns. This one I will probably try to make.

Well, I would be up for running this one. However the time schedule for campaigns is a little tight now, so maybe early next year.
We only just got 10 members to sign up for the Speed campaign, which is extremely broad with many build possibilities (everything flying Mach 1+ or having a speed record at some point in time), so I suggest we try the waters for a FW 190 campaign later in the fall.

yes, they are nice images aren't they, thanks for posting... I have a couple more somewhere, if I can only locate them....a 'new' one appeared on Ebay a while back...Alexander Steenbeck produced a modelling feature on these machines for Flugzeug Classic magazine a few years ago...although not evident from the pics 'rote 11' was at some stage fitted with the rearward firing Krebs rocket launcher in place of the fuselage ETC

Sounds very interesting - if you can dig new ones up somewhere please share them. It is always nice to be able to document ones builds as much as possible.

Hi,

I too am looking at doing "Red 8" - can you tell me what needs to be done to Eduard's A-8 to backdate it to an A-7?

I've looked in my references but can't seem to get a definitive answer.

Kind regards,

Nick

Hi Nick

hope i get that all together:

pitot can be ouboard like on the A-8 or inboard (like earlier Fw 190As beside the 20mm outboard gun)

large hatch on the underside should be smaller than on the A-8 (IIRC also due to MW50)

Due to the MW 50 system added on the A-8 (behind the pit) the center of gravity moved a little backwards, thus the ETC was moved 20cm forward.

HTH

Jeps, as Steffen already pointed out not that much needs to be changed - even less if one is not too concerned about the size of the hatch.

I have some drawings, but I am away from my library right now, but I will post them later.

Jesper, are you going to do one of those snakes for the FW 190 campaign that is now recruiting? (shameless plug) As I stated earlier, I would love to do one of my snakes also. Great pics that I also needed and greatly appreciate. Thanks everybody.

I do not know. I have not decided yet. I have plenty of FW 190s though, so there is a lot of choices.
