On this aircraft is there any different colour markings for it other then the ugly lozenge (sorry guys just don't like the colour ) It's a very interesting aircraft design I was thinking of varnished fuselage and dope fabric . Any suggestions would be most helpful indeed . I'm looking forward on trying out Stephens method on the spoked wheels .

Well actually, I have some references and an image or two that you may find interesting. There was a series of articles in Cross & Cockade Intl. done by the late dr. Martin O'Connor. These dealt with Autro-Hungarian aircraft and the camouflage colours. I have that same kit and I gathered several references. It may have to wait until tomorrow as I am at work.

Terri, I also got the same kit, but with different decals. That is one of my WW1 most favorite a/c - haven't started the model yet. I've got different profiles of the particular a/c - drop me PM with your e-mail.

I built the 138 series kit, without the hexagon decals.

I camouflaged it in the autumn leaf scheme, much like the boxtop art. It took me a long time to paint all the small splotches, but it was worth it - very eye-catching.

I used clear decal material for the small round 'windows' in the cockpit instead of the thick plastic ones supplied witht the kit.

A varnished wood fuselage and CDL wings and tail would look great .

Thanks for the link Hugh , He has done a good job on the build , something just doesn't look right about it with the colours . I'm leaning more to a dope wing and not sure on the rest yet .

Nico , The moldings are good . The rsin engine is not all the great in detail and will need to be replaced if you are into detail . PE are few but are nice .Rubber o-rings are inclued for the tires if you choose to do wire wheels . If you have ever built the older Eduards kit when the first came out they are much the same . just better moldings .

The profile represents 115.32 as flown by Frank Linke-Crawford when he was KIA 31.7.1918. Over the Frontt Vol. 6/ #2/ Front Cover is the same as the Windsock Datafile #45. Shows his a/c shedding its wing coverings.

Autrian Technic Museum has Av. D.I 101.37. Much of the fuselage is & wings are stripped of any covering for display purposes.

One colour note is that the fuselage bands for Flik 60 is that they were black not red.

Datafile # 45 has hexagonal lozenge colour note on p. 36 There were several camouflage patterns applied to the various Av. D.I aircraft. This one was at the Champlin Fighter Museum and was part of the sale to the the Boeing Museum in Seattle. It is camouflaged in the autumn leaf scheme.

Wow , thanks for all of the info on this aircraft . I did some looking on the net but didn't come up with very much . The autumn leaf scheme really catches my eye . I'm guessing the colours used for this are dark yellow , red brown and olive green . Not sure on the green though . How would have this been applied ? Would the yellow be the base coat then the other shades sponged on or something to that effect ?

You can depict spoked wheels too (without covers)!

I have about four sets to chooces from . Stephen has an execllent post on this subject that I will be trying out . ( never fear the spoked wheel agian ) is the title of it . I think !
