Hi, I am building a 1/32 scale spitfire conversion from the mkv to the mark xive with the tear drop canopy. I am useing the Warbirds conversion set, I'm going to do Johnnie Johnson's aircraft when he was based in Soltau in Germany 1945, does anybody know what type of roundel is used on the top of the wings? Would it be the C1 type?
Cheers Trevor.

Hi Trevor,
No not the "C1" type, pre Jan1945 it would have been the 56" "B" type (dull red and blue), post Jan 1945 it should be the 56" "C" type (dull red and blue with a thin white ring between). Of course there would be, probably, some transition time for the change to be implimented on all aircraft.
I'll try and find more info on Johnnie Johnson's aircraft.

Hi Mal, thanks for your help, I think he was stationed there about May 1945.
Cheers Trev.
