Hello!
I'm interested in purchasing a couple of Revell models, Hawker Hunter and Draken, both in 1/72.
As or the former, I have seen a couple of different boxes available:
* #4186 - Hawker Hunter FGA. 9 / MK.58
* #4350 - Hawker Hunter F.Mk.6
Which are the differences? Are they based on the same kit?
As for the Draken, is it true that it's based on the Hasegawa kit? And which decals are provided?
Thanks for any answer!

Hi Giacomo,
Revell's 1/72 models can be tricky. Many are the original molds from the 60's and 70's, like their re re released Sopwith Triplane. The quality shows. They made a 1/72 Draken way back when--one of my very first models. Hopefully the one you have is a modern kit.
A great resource for what you may find in the box is 72scale.com,
I found this on another site, which indicates the Revell kit is not the Hasegawa:
The #4350 - Hawker Hunter F.Mk.6 was released about 3 years ago and is a highly regarded model as one would expect of modern kits.
Be wary of the other, it could very well be the old Matchbox kit:

Welcome to 72scale.com, a reference resource for scale modellers who build to the scale of 1/72 (1 inch = 6 ft). No other scale in modelling offers quite as much variety nor crosses so many genres as 1/72. This site aims mainly to supply the modeller with a comprehensive and definitive Census of models available commercially or previously available, including aftermarket items & accessories, and some announced items not yet released. There is also the occasional review. By showing the full spectrum of what has been made available, we hope to inspire modellers to widen their horizons and consider modelling subjects they may not have before, and to encourage those considering defection to another scale to remain loyal to 1/72. We also hope to encourage producers by making it easier for them to identify market opportunities and deliniating modellers' expectations as far as new products are concerned. Modellers are encouraged to contribute their opinion of the accuracy and quality of items they have encountered, as well as pictures of models they have built. We also encourage manufacturers to inform us of items they wish to be included in the Census. Detailed information on submission criteria can be found on our Contribute page.

The kit is not bad at all and is better than the Airfix release by a long shot as well as the better but still inaccurate offering from Revell. It still suffers some flaws of inaccuracy itself and the kit is certainly not up to usual Hasegawan standard with fits and so forth.

Overall, this isn't a bad replication of the T.Mk 7 and it's the only one that you are going to get in this scale so you have to take it all with a pinch of salt. You definitely need to invest in one of the aftermarket (or should that be "beforemarket"?!) conversion and correction kits to make this replication more accurate. Be prepared to put effort into this model and to also have your handy "enhance the fit" tools nearby (like putty, sandpaper, file etc). If it's a Hunter variant that you desperately want then it's worth the getting, otherwise let's hope that a better engineered version is on its way.

Hi Giacomo
the Hunter is a new tool from last year and considered very good. One is a F6 and the other FGA 9 .. obviously.
The recently issued Draken is the Hasegawa kit reboxed.
HTH
cheers
