Welcome back to modeling volkjagger!
You are in luck. For inscale replacement struts I highly recommend Aeroclub STRUTZ. This is extruded brass in an airfoil profile. One of our advertizers here is Roll Models and they carry them. Just tell then you hear about from Aeroscale.
Now since Aeroclub is in the UK, Hannants might carry them as well. (Another of our fine advertizers.)

In most cases it can hard for me to get my hands on the brass , so I will use bamboo chop sticks . I spilt the wood to the width I need and sand and smooth it to shape . Takes paint really well is light weight and really strong .

Greetings Brad!
I use wire dykes / cutters most of the time. The clean up is sanding film, files, emery boards or carbide cutting wheels chucked in a motor tool. The wheel is particularly helpful when grinding out the ends of struts or the "U" bends in landing gear legs. The instructions that come with the extruded brass are excellent and give even the beginner a good foot up.
