I am not a helo modeler but i can't resist big bold gunships, helos. So i know the blackout from the movie is a MH-53J Pave Low III. But i am looking for 1/72 kit with no photoetch. I don't know which one to choose. There is a MH-53 from revell but not the exact one. Can anyone help me? Much Thanks

Revell has the offering of the MH-53J, the review says it has updated decals. If nothing else it would be a good base to get you started. I think Italeri offered one in the mid-90's and I dont know if this might be the re-boxing of it. If so, then its a pretty good kit.

Italeri did make one in 1/72 with a Desert Storm box art, as I have it part built in the stash, but i'm not sure if it's still available
Hope this Help

Thanks for the replys. Bought the revell kit. Haven't started yet because i still haven't finished the previous Junkers Ju88. Anyways does anyone know what is the markings(decals) on the helo. The kit is supplied with Desert Storm 20st S.O.S Saudi Arabia 1991, 20th S.O.S Hulbert field 2004 and 21st S.O.S RAF Mildenhall 2004. And i have to change the tail marking to USAF 4500X. Thanks

20th SOS is the USAF's 20th Special Operations Squadron. They support AF, Army, Navy, and USMC Special Operations forces with heavy airlift. All USAF MH-53 Pavelows are operated by AFSOC (Air Force Special Operations Command). The 20th SOS is one of their oldest units which dates back to the pre-Vietnam years. They are known as the Green Hornets.

Not sure how it looks. What are the names of the Humbrol colors, I don't know their #s. Also, white is usually not a good color to drybrush dark colors with. I'm assuming you painted the rotor head black. If so, a dark gray is a better color to drybrush it with.

That sounds about right. I would drybrush the rotorhead with a dark gunmetal color to give it a little look of wear. Show us some pics when you get it done.

Thanks, you still haven't told me which color for 20th SOS, 106 ocean grey or 127 US ghost grey.

Sorry, didn't realize you were still asking. Thought you were using both, mixed or something. The actual color is Gunship Gray, FS36118. It is a medium dark color. I don't know which Humbrol is closer (I have never used Humbrol paints). Here are some pics to see what it looks like.
Thought this one was cool.
Hope that helps.

The last picture is cool. I am going to go with ocean grey. It is a little bit darker than FS36118. I can't seem to find any testors FS paint in UK Shops. Do you know where i can get one in uk. And is it ok if i paint the cockpit with dark grey and seats with blue-ish grey. I can't post pics as i don't have a camera.
Thanks
Thanks

Sorry, no idea where to get anything in the UK. Other than flying through Shannon Airport in Ireland, I've never been there. The cockpit should be flat black, seats and all. This is for NVG compatability. Anything lighter can wash out the NVGs and the pilots wouldn't be able to see. The rear cabin is a medium gray.

Yes, white is correct. Good luck on it.
