very nice ....and kudos for omitting the antenna wire so often seen on P-51 models...contrary to popular opinion it wasn't standard on ETO Mustangs. (ETO fighters were not equipped for over the horizon long range communication in the HF range ..it says here)

I would love to know your Natural Metal Techniques and how you weathered the kit. Thanks

I would love to know your Natural Metal Techniques and how you weathered the kit. Thanks

The model is primed with Halfords Grey Primer and then sprayed with Alclad Aluminium with various panel pick out with shades of Alclad Dark Aluminium and Duraminium. Panel lines are picked out with a wash of Windsor & Newton Paynes Grey oil paint thinned with turpentine. and finally the exhausts and other weathering was done with Tamiya's weathering set (soot and rust)

Hope this helps

Cheers

beautiful model. I tried to do the panel line washes on my P-47 which I used the Alclad aluminum. My inks kept getting wiped away all together and I was afraid the W&N oils diluted with mineral spirits would harm the Alclad. does the turpentine not have any effect on it?

Thanks, I wouldn't know if the turpentine effects the Alclad as i normally do a coat of Johnsons Klear/Future to seal in the decals before any washes.

Cheers

To be honest, I've been using Klear/Future as a gloss for as long as I can remember and I have only ever had one problem but that was a reaction to a pool of Micro Sol, But never with Alclad. Just remember to apply it in thin layers and don't let it pool.

I suppose the pictures prove this

Cheers
