Hi guys,

It's been awhile since I've posted on this side of the forum (I'm usually over at Historica Forma)

This was a diorama commisioned by a coworker who served in the Air Force in England during the 70s. He always was a fan of Douglas Bader, and wanted a small diorama to accompany a print he has of Bader's Spitfire. I based the revetment on his memory of the remaining ones he saw while stationed there. His memory differs slightly from the revetment reference pics I found, but since it was for his enjoyment I went with what he described.

I'm glad this one is behind me as it took quite awhile to complete. There are technical errors with the plane itself as I'm sure the Bader/Spitfire afficianados here will easily see, but he wasn't too picky about complete accuracy (Good for me, as it would have taken much more work to make it 100% accurate). He was just happy enough to have something that "resembled" the plane in his picture.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers!

John

Hi John,

Fantastic work in every aspect: aircraft model, figures, diorama base... everything is top class!

Do you have more pictures so we can make a feature out of it?

This screams professional job from top to bottom.

It came out well, well worth the money paid.

An absolutely stunning diorama. The chaps are right - everything about the model screams "quality build"; the groundwork, the figures, the spitfire, the composition. Your co-worker must be one very happy chappy

Jean-Luc - Thank you for your kind words. I've forwarded on some more pictures to you as well as some text describing the build. I would be honored if you used it for a feature.

Taylor - Thanks! The groundwork is on of the things I like best too.

Martin - I appreciate your comments. Glad you like the figures!

Scott - I'm flattered by your comments. Thank you! Considering my co-worker only paid cost of the items used, I'd say he realizes he got a really good deal!

Emma - Thank you for your compliments. Yes, he was a very "happy chappy" indeed

Chris - Thank you for commenting. I'm happy to say it was a success and he liked it very much!

Darren - I'm glad you like it! I'm also happy to know it can provide inspiration to others. I'd love to see what you come up with using your talents!

Cheers!

John
