Since I was hording space recently on the Battle for Europe Campaign thread, I thought I would go ahead and just run a Blog with the updates.
The kit is the Monogram Pro Modeler version, and from what I have read, is the better choice for making an A1. The only after market stuff are the Aires wheel well set, photo etch seatbelts, and instrument panel. I know the real 410 wheel bays were normally closed when parked, but the Aires set really adds a lot and I got it at a bargin price.
I decided to go for something besides the grays that dominate my Luftwaffe collection.
This AC had some very unique features, to include the barbettes being removed and no visable radio equipment. I filled in the holes with plastic card, Mr Disolved putty amd Mr Sufacer 500..
The AC was sprayed with Tamiya white primer then preshaded whith Polly scale tarnish black
All paints are Polly Scale and it is taking a while to get all the paint work done. I still have to do the tail mottle and touch ups. The question is, will be done before the end of the campaign?
Comments always welcome
Taylor

Howard and Chuck:
Thank you for the encouragement. Here are some shots with the future/gloss coat on and the decals added. These were an Aero Master set and I am not sure what was the problem, but they would not stick. Copious amounts of Solvaset was required. I am still trying to get the hang of this new camera, so the pic quality is not the best. Sorry.
Weathering is next.

well, the decals look great, even if you had a hard time with them. In fact, the whole thing looks awesome.

Yeah I agree with Vance, it looks great. The tail mottling has come out brilliantly and the bird has it's identity now!
Really impressive and I look forward to the next installment.

Vance and Howard:
Thank you for the comments . Just a few days left to finish the build in time for the campaign. I seem to always be destined to finish things at the last minute. I did get some work done today. The top filter wash was completed and tomorrow I should be able to do the bottom. Pin wash and final assembly are next. Maybe I will finish by the 31st.

Making some progress. The canopy on this plane is a real challenge. Lots of irregular surfaces, making it very difficult to mask. I'm not real happy with the result, but I am not sure what else to do with it. Getting closer to the end.

good luck. no way i am going to get my 109 finished in time for the same campaign unfortunately. she's primed and ready for spraying, but i just don't have the time with work being totally relentless (oh well, at least i'm employed!).
can't wait to see her finished!

I am not sure I am going to finish in time for the same reasons. It is going to be really close. I agree it is at least good to still have a job. Good luck with the 109.

Hi Taylor,
Looks very nice so far!
What did you use to do the panel lines wash if I may ask?

Thank you Jean-Luc.
The panels were first given a filter wash of artist oils (various shades of brown). For the pin wash I used was Pro Modeler wash dark.

Well, It is complete. It is a great kit as long as you watch out for the canopy. Comments are always welcome.

That is sooooo good! I love the finish you've achieved with that model Taylor.
It would be in for a feature if I had anything to do with it.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work....and being half as good

Howard, you are very kind. It was a fun build and getting a chance to actually finish something is unique for me.
Chuck:
Thank you for the compliment. Not nearly the level of your Hell Diver build.

A.W. Thank you for the comments. Acurate Minatures was supposed to release the kit under their lablel a while back, but I have not heard any updates to exactly when.
