Does anyone know of any good sites on the internet that discuss German aircraft colors? I'm most interested in the interiors. I saw a few pictures of a Bf-110 interior from a walkaround and I could've sworn I saw some green in there but all other references I've checked only mention shades of gray.

Also, does anyone know if the 1/48 Revell Bf-110 G-2 painting guide is accurate? It's not the ProModeler version, but I don't know if it's changed.

TIA...Kevin

I would bet on the instructions. The interiors of nearly all Luftwaffe fighters and Zerstoers was either RLM 02 grey or RLM 66 grey. Early war aircraft are 02, later war aircraft are 66.

RLM 02 is a medium grey with a very distinctive green tint to it. This is undoubtedly the "green" that you have seen, as I am not aware of any Luftwaffe greens that were used in the cockpit of aircraft. Model Masters' RLM 02 looks right on to me.

RLM 66 is a very dark grey, like a slightly darker US Gunship Grey. A little bluish, but very dark.

The kit instructions probably call for the 66? Am I correct?

Oh yeah, the version of the kit you have is a just a rebox of the ProModeler. The PM kit came first, the version you have is a different variant and is half the price of the PM one.

Hi, there is a good site dealing only with luftwaffe camouflage. It is very specialised but contains a wealth of information. The site is :

cool site brandydoguk, thanks, and I agree with didimus all WW2 german fighters came with the RLM 02 or 66 interior color, usually that same color extended to the landing gear wells too.

Try to search in this site:

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/

go to the Archice bouton. I remember that I saw something there.

Also I recomend the publication "Luftwaffe 1935 - 1945 - Camouflage & Markings" Vol 1, 2, 3 and 4. Author Jaroslav Wrobel (A. J. Press). Here you will find everything about colours, camos, unit markings, profiles, etc...

Scott is bang on, I'm not sure when the change to RLM 66 for the cockpit occured, but you 110G-2 will be RLM 66. The wheel wells and landing gear will be RLM 02, wheels themselves will be gloss black.
If the pictures of the walkaround are of a restored aircraft, it's more than possible that who ever did the restoration wasn't clear about the cockpit colour and used RLM 02 instead of 66.
My 110G-2 was built from the Revell/Monogram boxing. Is it the same as yours, or did Revell issue the G-2 in their own boxing? I have the Revell G-4. As I have no specific references I went with the kit instructions (they are quite specific in some areas, such as the position of the fuselage band) and look pretty authentic. Check out my article 110G-2

Both of those web sites give me exactly whaI need. Thanks! Holdfast, that's a great article. I hope my Bf-110 looks half as good as yours. It's pretty much the same camo scheme I'm attempting.

:-) Thanks Kevin, I'd be more than interested in how you get on, particularly on what your thoughts are on part 220, side panel (the part I mention in the article) :-)

I always recommend the 109 lair in the case you are looking for Me109 info, walkarounds, reviews and galleries. You should check the links for Me110 stuff.
