This is the Academy/MRC kit of the W model with NTS update, I used a Eduard exterior set and 'Two bobs' decal set. Of note is that Academy did not update the front cockpit in line with the rest of the NTS update.
This is my first large scale kit and only the second with an airbrush.
I've enjoyed the build and will do another but will invest in cockpit detail next time.

Beautiful job on the Cobra, not bad for your second chance at airbrushing. Love the exhaust stains and that you pitched the rotor blades. I thought about getting those decals…how are they.

Thanks Joe, the decals were good but you will need to keep referance books to hand as the decal sheet leaves some info out, but saying that when checking the ref I found pictures of some Whiskey Cobras with some stencils absent. The decals on the most part settled well but in areas of large amounts of rivets even with set and sol they would not confirm properly.

Very nice rendering of the "Whiskey" NTS!
Having the same model the same PE and the same decal sheet in may stash I have a meter of how mine will have to look like!

Very nice Cobra!!! I have one (Hasegawa Ah-1s 1/72) in my closet who is waiting to be my first helo build. After I saw your build I had to put it up on my priorities list
Nice handling with the airbrush for your second try! I'm still practicing, and my second attempt landed in the bin
Keep it up, greetings from Switzerland!

Thanks guy's, I'll admit that I spent some money about two years ago and went on a training day on how to use the airbrush, then a month ago I did my first airbrush job but not only an airbrush but Alclad to boot.
And this was the result -
This gave me the courage to carry on using it. I'm still learning things but then again if we aren't then where's the pleasure.
I have the AH-1T+ as well so this will get on to the bench sometime next year once I've got some AM for it.
Ciao

Great choice Shawn, the Cobra kit build up nicely. As for photoetch...here is a site.
Cobra PE
If you want other options just type in a google search "1/35 Cobra photo etch or decals and you'll find many online sites with products. If your into resin Cobra Company makes a great set and TwoBobs has a decal sheet out like the one at the top. I think FireBall Model Works also has a sheet.
Good luck with your build,
Joe
