I wonder if the sales figures quoted are purely Airfix kits?
2.5 million kits sold can only be a good thing.
Either the amount of people building is on the up or someones gotta helluva stash!!

I wish somebody would explain to me the "superiority" and "mystque" of German engineering.

Hi Steve
noone's going to explain that 'cos it didn't exist!
I do a lot of German stuff simply because I enjoy doing Luftwaffe camouflage schemes.

When I read the artical I got the impression the numbers were for airfix sales only.
I have to admit I like the German stuff a lot. I just don't seem to build much of it. I have more Allied stuff in the case and on the stash pile than German. I do admire German autos and firearms though.

I think that you're in the realms of "Lies, damned lies, and statistics," since you can read those figures any way you like. Take an individual aircraft tpye, and the Spitfire outsold every one of the others, to a ratio of nearly 2:1. "Spitfire more popular than the Me109" wouldn't sell newspapers, though.

Could it be that the Spit has reached some level of market saturation?
