Hi.
Now when Hasegawa has released their J35 Draken in 1/48 i remember that I a long long time ago built a Viggen in 1/48, I think it was from Esci. Does this kit still exist under some other menufacturers label or is it gone to aircraft heaven?
If it´s still around, how is the quality of this kit and are there any update/detail sets for it? Can you make a decent Viggen out of it?
I hope someone can help me with these questions.
All the best, Torbjörn.

Hej Torbjörn!
The Esci is now distributed as Airfix. The kit is rather old and basic. Raised panel lines is not what you expect nowadays.
For more input, try http://www.ipmsstockholm.org. Loads of experts on Swedish aricraft!
There are great decal options from TwoBobs and Syhart, and there is currently quite a few aftermarket corrections being produced (nose, intakes etc). Again, go to the IPMS Stockholm website and read the forum (mostly in Swedish). You'll find a good Swedish net dealer with some special short-run aftermarket items for Viggen, Draken and other Swedish aircraft here; http://www.rebell.com.
Personally, I'll start with the old Heller in 1/72 pretty soon...
And to all kit makers: We demand new Viggens in both 1/72 and 1/48!!!!
Cheers! // PolarBear

I have the Viggen on my wishlist as well.
Its a pity to find out that there is no decent kit available
but then, i still have a few things left to build first so if the manufacturers hurry up they could still be in time

I´ll think that I will build some of Hellers Viggen in 1/72, I found some nice aftermarket decals for it. Until some manufacturer makes a new Viggen in 1/48 I´m going to get one of Hasegawas Draken and see what I can make out of that.
Thanks
Torbjörn.
