The base is just a polyfilla base with static grass. The polyfilla is airbrushed first before the application of the grass, which is then airbrished with various shades of green and then drybrushed with tones of brown.

hey ross i'm also in the process of finishing this kit, that and about 15 more 1/72 scale spits... i know i know you can't beat a good spit. i like the overall finish you said you had problems with the decals what sort of problems? i only ask coz i haven't decalled my spitfire yet and if there are problems with the decals any advice you could give would help me. cheers Ant.

Ant - I thinnk the problems were created by me. My coat oof klear wasn't good enough I think. Therefore, when I applied the decals and the satin coat the decals silvered. However, I don't think this was helped by the thickness of Tamiya's decals.
