Hey guys,
For some reason, I forgot to post this information from Mr. Omami a couple weeks ago. At the recent Hasegawa Joyful Modelers' Convention, the Big H showed one of their kits for 2009, a 1/48 F1M2 Pete. Prior to this, the only kit in this scale was Tamiya's old, but good, 1/50 scale. This kit will obviously trump that...
* Rear canopy by latest research (can choose the open or close)
* Late type cowling
* Can remove the spinner
* Include Bombs x 2, Traction cart
* Photo etched parts (option)
This is in my top 5 favorite planes of all time, so I'm really excited about this release. Thanks so much to Mr. Omami of J Model Works for this great information. More from the show can be found HERE...

Hi Dade,
Thanks for sharing such great news. This "Pete" is indeed sweet! I don't have this aircraft in my stash so this kit will be high on my list for this year!

Fred ... stay away from the keyboard ... humidity is not good for that (I know from experience)
I have seen this elsewhere, and indeed it is good news .. that is probably the (only) new 48scale stuff from Hasegawa until Shizuoka .. not pretty much my area of interest .. but maybe I find an ace that flew such a create at one time in his career ...
Thanks for sharing!
cheers
Steffen

Hi Dade
It's great to see the pics of the built-up model. I've been really looking forward to Hasegawa's F1M2 - I built the old Tamiya kit 20 or so years ago and, as with you, the a/c's long been a favourite of mine.
All the best
Rowan

Glad I could help with the heads up, guys. The second this kit comes out, I'm there. Of course, then I'll have to wait around for Eduard to make some PE and masks...
Rowan, I've got the Tamiya 1/50 kit and was actually planning to scale up the Eduard PE for the 1/72 kit, and rework it for the 1/50 kit... Thankfully, I won't have to embark on that project anymore!

Err what did I write again
well, I am weak and as I found HLJ having the Model and PE set on preorder yesterday I placed my order ... February is a very bad month for extra expenditure (Nuremberg won't be cheap, even though I share some cost with J-L) but what the heck .. I have enough personal reserves to fast a few days
cheers

Hi
just found out (at HS) that Hasegawa has posted some info on this kit on their site.
http://www.hasegawa-model.co.jp/e-w/NEWDETAIL/0902/JT96.html
Seems I'll get my ace oob ... according to Dragonmodelsusa there will be a special edition, which includes the etched parts http://www.dragonmodelsusa.com/dmlusa/prodd.asp?pid=HAS19196S
cheers

Hi Steffen
Thanks for the update (I think! ) - I'll definitely have to break my New Year's vow, and find room in The Stash for this beauty!
All the best

Looking better and better! I'm really happy to see that rigging is included in the PE set. I'm still going to wait and see what Eduard also comes up with before I build mine. Their 1/72 set was nice and I think 1/48 will be awesome. Also, why do I get the feeling that there are going to be a LOT of Petes in the floatplane/ seaplane campaign...?

Hi Dade
I won't need the excuse of waiting for the Seaplane Campaign - on that one I'll hold steady to my original entry - Signifer's lovely Grumman Widgeon.

Hi Dade
possible ... but with the new Italeri Arado 196 there could be some competition (if it appears timely) ... finally i can abandon my HiPM project
Just pulled my Rufe from the stash to get a feeling for Floatplanes ....
cheers

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you two were suddenly gonna crowd the campaign with this kit. I was just thinking in general terms... a new campaign... a new Hasegawa float plane.... It's magic time!
For me, that campaign was what I was thinking about doing that wacky 1/50 PE scale up project with-- but this kit really changes things. However, if the place gets crowded, I'll try to get something else together.
BTW, Rowan, I read your review and that Widgeon is amazing!

Hi Dade
It's a laugh that we both dove in to say we won't enter a kit that we so obviously are drooling over!

Well, I was more generally speaking.
I do not know if I will take part at all .. and if what aircraft I would enter. The Italeri kit will be probably a bit more challenging than the Hasegawa (even with PE).

I'm getting mine through a contact at cost, but will have to wait about a month or so before receiving it as it has to go trough the US distributor first. Looking forward to seeing what you have to say about the model, Steffen!

Hi Steffen and Dade
You won't be surprised to hear that the F1M2 is all set to take pride of place in our next set of Hasegawa reviews courtesy of HLJ. I've been drooling over the pre-release shots - and I think Jean-Luc and I will be duelling with pistols at dawn over who gets to review it in (all being well) a week or so's time!
All the best
