". . .The Model Cellar would like to wish everyone here at the 'Aeroscale' Happy New Year! Here is another figure. We would like to announce our January '09 release:
Item #48006
WWI French Pilot Officer
This is another superb figure by Mike Good. So much clean and crisp detail packed into such a small scale - including airman's badge and collar insignia!
Here are some photos:"

Greetings all Here is a bit of fun on the 1/48 French standing pilot / officer figure.
Here there appears to be a difference in the heights of the two assembled figures. Anyone care to guess why?

Hi Steve,
Ok, you got me.
Please elaborate/explain - don't keep me in suspense! It looks like my figures have gone bad???
I can't imagine they are different sizes????? I went into "The Cellar" and looked into my parts bins - they ALL look to be the same size to me! Is it a camera trick, something with the focal length? I can see how the wings of the aircraft give a "perspective" kind of view with the wingtips in the foreground are MUCH farther apart than the wing tips in the background. ...kind of like if you did a "flat drawing" on paper in perspective to give it a 3-D effect.

Its even easier than you can imagine Paul. There are three specific changes and they are not radical changes. First the fellow at right seems taller because I meant him to. To do that I
1.. altered the fellow at left
A. by deepening the neck socket in the torso so the head woud sit lower.
B. kept the arms at a stock position.
C. pinned his feet to the ground plate and shortend the grass around his feet.
2. altered the fellow at right.
A. The the fellow at right I kept the neck socket pretty standard.
B. raised his arms above the stock position.
C. pinned his feet slightly higher than the other and kept the grass by piling up a bit more. You can see a bit of the brass pin in the foot closest to the lens.
Another way I "tricked" the camera was to have them facing each other but slightly off center from each other. The stance of the basic figure has one leg further forward so it looks like the coat hem is closer to the ground that on the other fellow. Note the left back edge of the ground plate is not perpendicular or parallel to the camera lens. I have it sitting on another plate that is square to the camer but has a corner sticking out to fool the eye that the base is totally square.

No worries Paul your figures stand the test every time. detailed, accurate and finely molded. This is the reason I buy several of one figure type. You can add subtle changes that make people look twice. Your figures are versitile in that way.

Thanks Carl its kind of you to say so. Base flesh colours have been applied.
For me adding a relevant figure helps bring a visual proportion to the display. Here with Eduard's 1:48 #8196 Spad XIII build I use the Model Cellar French officer.
