What was the color on the bottom of a Navy F6F-3 Hellcat. I am building the Hasegawa 48 one, and am a little stumped on what color it was. White, Light grey?
Thanks! Its off the USS ESSEX. So far it is pretty easy.

White. The scheme is dark sea blue over intermedite over white, right?

Yep.
If you want to get REALLY technical about it, it's non-specular sea blue, intermediate blue and flat white.
I'm not feeling all that technical today though. #:-)

If you can locate them, Aeromaster made a great set of decals called, "USN aircraft in British Service". Includes Martlets (Wildcats), Hellcats, Corsairs and Tarpons (Avengers). Highly recommended. I am adding the decals to my Academy 1/72 clipped-wing Corsair now.

Hi Chip,
Sorry to be late to the party. I looked in my Monogram USN 193x-1949 book and the USN color is nonspecular white.
All the best,
Fred

Thank You lads! The plane is done, but it wouldn't of been without the gift from viewers like yourself!
