Hey Jaypee
Very nice subject and build! But have you already applied a panel line wash on the wings? This would bring out more detail.
Regards,
A. W.

Yeah the buff wash didnt really sit in the panel lines on the wings. The starboard wing
is a bit better. The fuselage was OK. Would be fine for spraying but I brush painted the OD.
If I brush paint something like this again I'll deepen the panel lines first.
I'll try a dark ink on it. I wanted a dusty look but the ink wash would define the panels
at least.
Thanks AW that's given me something to note for the future.

Hey JP on my current build I tried a wash with acrylics and it got better than with oils, but you have to work more precise, because you cant wipe away the excesses. But if you go slow on it and build it up in a few layers you have good control over it and if mistakes happen they aren't very obvious.
Brush painting? Why don't you try it with an airbrush? (Though I thought your p-39 was airbrushed ) It's real fun I just pick out the details with a brush.
Do you know the promodellers wash? I tried it on some scrap piece and it got real good. I'll try it on my TBM.
Keep up this great work

too kind AW. Only the tail was airbrushed I've not been able to get
time or space to practice with the AB more. It is quicker just to whip out
the brushes and paste away. But that will change hopefully when
the building work is done in the house.

Humbrol acrylic. I was looking for OD at the LHS. They were sold out of tamiya.
Sold out of humbrol enamel. So I dubiously got the humbrol acrylic. My god it
is great paint for brushing. Excellent coverage and smooth as silk. Cheap too.
I was suprised as I've heard bad things about it. Just goes to show you should always
try everything to see what suits you. Not tried it through an AB yet though.

Most impressive Jaypee ! When brush painting I pick out the panel lines with a fine drafting pen . Ink comes in a wide range of colours . dark grey works well . Once I have the lines in place I seal with dullcote and finish of with pastels .
