So Mr. Ferris is the one to blame for the boreing grey camo schemes eh? Makes perfect sense in real world applications but it certainly tends to drain the brain of a model builder when building modern aircraft.

There is an interesting book,"The Aviation Art of Keith Ferris." It goes into great detail about how he does his art, including mixing colors, etc. Particularly, it talks about how he did the paintings in the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian. Ferris is a graphic designer by "trade," and wanted to maximize the exact reproduction of his colors in print, etc. He also built stainless steel models of his subjects, and posed them in various positions of the actions prior to painting. The thought and perspective, etc behind the painting, "Old Thunderbird" is really great. The book is a paper bound book, but I don't know where it can be purchased...maybe the Smithsonian store, or Amazon. It is an enjoyable resource.

Addition: It is available at Amazon...from $1.54 on up in price.

Niiiice. The logic is simple and useful. I personaly disagree with the modeling part. I like painting silly Grey schemes actualy. Personal idea of course.
By the way doesn anybody know a good source that has all the Heather-Ferris patterns. I found the F-14,15 and F-4 ones but couldn't menaged the others. For example F-5. Anyone?
