It is with a sad heart I note the passing of August Blume and Rick Duiven. Augie was known for his gathering of information and publishing stories concerning the Eastern front conflict in WWI. Rick was known for his extensive life studies on the German Jastas and two seater units (in their various forms). Rick was especially close to me and a dear friend.

Hi Stephen

It's been a bad winter. UK modellers (in particular) are still mourning the death of Alan Hall last November. The loss to us all through the passing of such personalities who've helped shape both our hobby and the type of aviation research that we enjoy (and all too often take for granted) can't be overestimated. We owe them a great debt.

Please accept my sincere condolences

yes, my condolences to all who knew August or Rick, family, friends and everyone who knew them through the great work they have done for us.

It is good to know though that their work, their research has not passed on with them to be lost in time though. So many have benefitted probably realising the hours they have spent researching and recording what they found. So many myself included who used this knowledge without realising the time, the effort, the dedication men like these had put in without real reward.

They wil be missed, greater men than I may step in to continue their work we can but hope.

Best wishes to their families and friends
Keith
