I want to make a transition from armor vehicles to airplane and wanted a recommendation. I'm interested in building either a me-109 or fw 190 in 1/32. Who makes a decent build of the mentioned above with a some level of detail (ie cockpit, engine ..) without the need to invest in aftermarket kits. I would'nt consider myself a novice but definitely not an expert. Thanks in advance

Hi Hermann

Hasegawa's series of Bf 109G/K and Fw 190A/D/F kits are excellent. Some of them are also available under the Revell banner at a reduced price. There are plenty of aftermarket sets designed for them, but you can still build a great model out of the box.

The newest kit on the bock (sorry, I couldn't resist it!) is Eduard's Bf 109E-1. I published an in-box review yesterday and have just started a on-line build

All the best

Finally made up my mind and ordered Eduard's FW-190A-8/R2 (kit # 8175) in 1:48. It some very favorable reviews and it looks to have the amount of detail that I'm looking for (not to mention that the price was right). Now, if only UPS could deliver any faster !!!

Hi Hermann

Thanks is how I get hooked by aircraft less than two years ago. Interesting to see you started with 1/32 and moved down to 1/48. The same line of thought I did. The Eduard kit is excellent and very well detailed, but not as simple as some of the other FW 190 kits out there.

Good luck with it and remember to share the build with the rest of the forum

My line of logic is its better to start small and work my way up ..mistakes seem to be more apparent when made on larger kits then smaller).
