Greetings all;

It is with a sense of further sadness I report the loss of Mr. Tom Harris owner operator of Tom's Modelworks.

http://www.tomsmodelworks.com/
From their website the family send a message.

"ATTENTION VALUED CUSTOMER
Tom Harrison passed away Wednesday February 25th after a battle with lung cancer. Please allow the family some time to get their affairs in order before trying to contact them. No new orders are being accepted until the family has time to decide on the future of his site. I will report their decision here when they make it."

Most of you will know that Tom's materials were highly thought of. They were some of the earliest example of PE designed for specific WWI kits. Here he is about 1 year ago - at left.

Seeing Tom's PE frets is what got me interested and started in super detailing and scratchbuilding. Condolences from me and my family to Tom's family.

It was almost a year ago when we lost Tom Harris. I decided to get out one of his kits and remind everyone about his dedication to modeling early aviation subjects. With the Karaya Halb. CL. IV due to arrive anyday here is Tom's resin and white metal version from about 1992.

Above and below at left lower area of both images is Copper State Models PE at right is Tom's version.

I'm a little unclear whether TM will be continuing or not. I have heard they will, but I was unable to get a particular set recently (the spokes for 1/32nd WW I aircraft).

I never actually did business with Tom. But when I complained about ruining a brass part (without mentioning whose sheet it was) on SMML, Tom and one of his competitors immediately offered to replace the entire sheet. I was impressed with Tom’s response since I had purchased the sheet from the competitor.
It’s that little extra bit of service, and care that always brings customers back. RIP Tom.

I'm glad to know his stuff will endure, since it's some of the only reasonably-priced WW I PE. Eduard and PART are both getting very dear, and sometimes all you want is some basics.
