Hi Folks
Here’s my attempt to build the Spad VIIc1 from Roden. Rick/RAGIII and I have had some conversation about this kit on the mail, and the kit has its spots off problems. I have dryfitted a lot off parts, so there had not been much painting and build so far. So for a start I will just try to find the areas off problems before I start up this build.
The instructions tell you to start with the inner details off the fuselage. Detail as ammo drums and throttle ect. But I started with the engine in stages 3 too 8. The cylinder parts 3Z and 4Z need some cleaning up to get a nice fit. I had to carve away the tiny tube on the side to get the halves to go together. All small tubes that’s included as small parts will be replaced with soft brass wire.
Rick mentioned that there's a good idea to use the lower wing (Part 1B) as a jig to line up the engine bearers parts 3E and 4E. I think this is a very good idea. Part 3E and 4E is weak and can easily get twisted or worse break off. So when you hit the stage 9 in the instructions use the lower wing as a jig.
The lower slots in the fire wall part 47a will need some sanding before even try to get them over the bearer 3e and 4E. You will even need to sand down the edges off the fire wall to get it to fit in the fuselages.
The lower wing will fit nicley to the fuselage halves after some gentle sanding.

Larsa,
Looking great! Thanks for finally posting what can be done if you identify the basic fit problems before you make a major mistake I am looking forward to your continued progress on this one. As an asside, I closed mine up this morning, and it looks much better without the grinding showing
