Hi all
Im trying to recreate rotor blur on Trumpeters 1/350 scale SH-3 Seakings.
Iv already scratch built the disk to represent the rotors by using a clear Pringles lid i used a compass with a scalpel to cut the main disk and a punch for the tail rotor.
Can anyone tell me whats the best way to get the blur effect of the blades going round ???
Just in case your wondering its for the rear deck of Tamiyas USS New jersey
Thanks guys

Take a picture of the rotor blades against a background of blue paper (or another color strongly contrasting with the coler of the rotors
enter the picture into photoshop (or gimp)
remove the background and select the rotor completely
change the opacity to 50% (again, test for the right opacity precentage) and blur
print this new layer onto transparent plastic (for slides) cut out the blurred rotor and glue it onto the rotor

You can also do it much easier by taking the clear disk and drybrushing in dark gray and black for the rotor blades. Do them in their correct poosition very lightly and drag the brush across the blades the short way to make them look blurred. Slightly arc the drybrushing as well to give the illusion of circular motion.
