I have started my build for the stripes campaign. It will be an Eduard Fokker D.VII. I have decided to start with the wings. So I put down the Eduard Lozenge. It did not look very good and didn't stick very well. The next day a set of Microsculpt decals arrived in the mail. So I stripped the wings down to bare plastic and started over. The lozenge and texture decals went on great, settled down nicely with just setting solution. And the look like real fabric. I am very happy with the results. If you are going to do a Lozenge scheme, do yourself a favor and order these decals. They are great.
The scheme I am going to do (Wili Gabriel) has lozenge wings and streaked fuselage, and for Terri, many, many stripes.. The instructions show the interior of the cockpit being done in reversed lozenge. I do not believe this is correct, as that would mean the streaked camo was applied over lozenge. I would appreciate some expert knowledge on this.

Carl I'm no expert but I imagine it is one or the other...if its a sreaked camo fuselage then plain fabric.....why would they dope up and streak over the lozenge? makes no sense, I think the instruction sheet has been generalised and it is in error

Did some one say Stripes !
I don't think they would streak over the lozenge , if they did it would show up in photo's . and I have never seen it before . So the inside of the fuselage would be dope linen . i know Stephen would be able to clear this up .
Yes Microsuclpt decals are the best ! Just wish they did the rib tapes to go with them . Looking forward to your build Carl .

Terri. I made my own tapes. There did not seem to be enough blue tapes to do two kits since the color profile showed blue on both upper and lower surfaces. I just painted some Tamiya masking tape the right color of blue, then I cut strips real thin. I think it worked better than decals. I put the texture over the whole wing after the tapes were down, since the rib tapes would have been textured also. I will take tome picture tonight. Right now, I here the links calling, "Can Carl come out and play?"

Greetings all;
Yes plain CDL on the interior. Also Carl I have the Gabriel orange stripes from the 8132 kit if you like? The aircraft is an early production Schwerin built airframe. D.286/18.

The golf links called Carl. It's more fatal and irresistable than the song of the sirens. Or at least a modern equivalent. It's a beautiful day here in Califorbnia, maybe....................

BINGO. You caught me.
Actually, I have been in a building slump. I have been building, but it has been real slow. Then, a few days ago, I started making some real progress, and have not been able to stop. Yadi, yada, yada, It is done. I hope to shoot some pics today.
Stephen, thanks, but I painted the stripes, except for the tailplane. It came out pretty good except for the occasional cat hair.

Nicely done Carl! Though it would need a solid green upper surface on the wing axle.
