I'm working on a KI-43 Oscar,
I would like to know what is the pipe thingie that sticks out of the propeller cone? The Otaki kit I have does not have it on the cone, but they show it in the drawings. I know it not a gun, but what is it? Airspeed indicator??

You mean like the one on this photo?

To me that looks like a socket used to connect an external engine starter device.

Hi JE

Yes, it's the socket that the starter unit shaft attached to. See Wikipedia for the typical Hucks starter.

All the best
