These are drop containers for the U.S. 75mm Pack Howitzer fitted onto a C-47..

Standard fitting for Parachute operations. Typically used the A series Aerial Delivery Containers. They were used in Sicily, Normandy, Holland, Rhine, Nadzab, Noemfor drops.
