Hi folks,
Saw Mal putting up his method of filling in gaps at wing roots. Looks pretty good. I wanted to share my method of filling in gaps with stretched sprue, which I used quite well for my 1/72 Hurricane earlier, and which I used for my BoB Bf 110 as well.
BTW, this method has been explained in pics at ARC, so I am not claiming it as my own .
1. Heat some sprue over a candle flame and stretch till you get a thread of thickness approximately equal to the width of the gap you want covered.
2. Pull the thread through a pool of superglue, for the length of the gap.
3. Position the thread over the gap, and press into place using a pair of forceps or a toothpick.
4. After the glue has dried, use a sanding stick or a needle file to file off the excess plastic, and it looks level with the surrounding areas.
I used this method to fix gaps on the propeller head and the wingroot. It came out pretty well ! Thsi method can also be used to replace raised panel lines that have been rubbed off durind a sanding process.
Cheers,
BP.

That sounds like something that I need to try. I've been using putty or super glue.
