Hola!

Here is some inprogress shots of my F-14 tomcat. Its for the aircraft group build, and I hope its ok that Ive already started it. Im on my way out the door for Sweden so I wont be building any more on it for about 4-6 weeks anyways The kit is Academy 1/48th F-14A Tomcat. Im going to redo a few things such as the ejection handles and redo them with copper wire etc. Also might re paint the panels so they are correct!

Anyways, please remember that I am not a wingy thingy builder, so any feed back is greatly appreciated

Anders, the figures look great! I'm not crazy about the cokpit area, but that's not you it's Academy. You did a fine job with what you were given in the kit. I assume since you are talking about redoing parts that the seats and pilots are just set in there for photo purposes. I would look for a cockpit replacement or PE set for this kit if you are going to have the cockpit open. If it will be a canopy down model, don't worry about it you won't see it that much anyway.

Great job so far, though.

Hi Anders

Started already eh...!

I know NOTHING about modern jets so I can't comment on the panels... if you say they're not accurate, I'll take your word for it. I agree with TwistedFate on the figures- they look great! I never put a pilot in, because I know it'll just look like Mr Blobby! To see it done right is an inspiration... I just tell myself I'll get the hang of it one day...

Lovely stuff ( even if I do prefer planes with propellers!)

Anders! Great job, you did very well! Will you paint my pilots for me? I'll pay ya two grand a piece!

Academy, yeah, they just have S*i* for cockpit detail, but you did very good for what you had to work with!!

Anders,

Did you use a wash on the pilots or did you shade them?

Hi Anders ,

As I'm a Tomcat Maniac , I like watch everything in subject F-14 - this is suberb work with cocpit and figures - it's really figures from Academy set ? it looks like Hasegawa - nice helmet painting - What scheme of F-14 we will see ? As in topic SEXY ?

Good work! For an AC modeler myself, I can't do good pilots. I've even messed out my Harrier pilot. Truth is, I have no talent in very small figs

Hola guys!

sorry for the late response, been busy traveling around Sweden

first of all thanks! The figures are Academy's offerings that come with the kit. They are painted in acrylics and are shaded and highlighted with alot of contrast due to the scale. The glass parts were painted flat black then several coats of 5 minute 2 part epoxy was added to add shine. Since I built this I have bought a couple of books about the tomcat and its different squadroons (?) and its development throught the years. I have picked out 3 different markings that Im going to choose from but I cant remember their names and I have it marked in the book so I will come back to that. Thanks again everybody for the kind words and encouragement, but to be honest now the rest of the plane will be a hard step

Like the word is, if the kit has more then 8 parts a figure modeler is lost..
