I am working on a dio featuring an F6F Hellcat based on the USS Enterprise. I've been looking for flight deck equipment and have pretty much come up with a blank. I did find an Eduard Navy personnel set but haven't been able to find any equipment, (trailers, cranes, etc.). Any help would be appreciated.

Tamiya had a tractor kit. It came as a combination kit with one of their F$U Corsair kit. Monogram also released some ground equipment in a kit that had British, U.S, and German equipment. I don't remember what the U.S. piece of equipment was or if it was suitable for carrier operations. Might be worth looking at for these two kits.

Y'all take care now,

Thanks for the input and the pics. The moto tug is exactly what I was looking for. I wish they just sold the tractor separately, but I guess I needed a Corsair for the collection anyway!

Dave, would you mind telling where you got those pictures? I tried all kind of Google searches for WWII carrier ops and didn't find anything like these.

Again, thanks!

I googled "WW2 Flight Deck" then clicked on images.
A few came from forums I never heard of.

Try some of the ship modelling forums such as modelwarhips.com and steelnavy.com . Remember as well, USN carriers had blue flight decks during WW2 (anyone who says any different is lying), usually flight deck stain #21 or Norfolk 250N flight deck stain. I suggest again posting on the forums mentioned as the stains changed during the war. Someone will know the correct one.

thanks

Mike, thanks for the tip. I've already asked the question about flight deck colors here: Model Shipwrights

I'm glad you checked that as some don't and build fantastic models but leave the deck in a natural wood colour instead of blue. Mr White knows just about anything to do with the Essex class carriers and a lot of other stuff as well. If he says it is, it most probably is! I forgot shipcamouflage.com, I shouldn't have as i've used it a few times before!

thanks

Being a Navy vet, all of my recollections of shipboard colors were gray, gray and more gray. I knew the decks were made from wood, but had no idea that they were stained blue. I don't consider myself a rivet counter as I just don't have the knowledge, but I do like to be as accurate as possible in those areas where I can like color and markings so I'm glad I asked the question too.

I didn't see mention of a scale that you will be working with, but, Accurate Miniatures has a tractor, trailer, torpedo, bombs and rockets package out in 1/48th.
