I have an older Monogram Avenger TBF kit that I grabbed at a show for a few bucks. I want to build for old times sake as it was one of my very favorites as a kid - folding wings, tail hook operates the tail gear, landing gear folds up, torpedo drops, turret rotates.... fun stuff.

But the decals are toast.

I'm new to the searching for decals thing and am not having luck finding either dedicated 1/48 Avenger decals or even just a general 1/48 WWII US Navy Sheet.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Well, Yellow-Wings Decals has some generic national symbols in 1/48...not specific for the Avenger, but you may be able to use something they have. Here is a link - Yellow Wings

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

i recall the kit well, I added monogram corsair wheels as they had far better detail and were fatter. But what a load of features for a kit....sorry no info to add to decals.

I was able to get a set straight from Monogram when they reissued the kit with the sew on insignia. You could try to see if they still have the decal set available.

Techmod makes several decals sheets for 1:48 scale Avengers: 48067, 48069 & 48070.

I couldn't find a mention of them on the manufacturer's site so perhaps they're currently out of production.

Hope this helps.

Superscale makes (made?) several sets, but I'm having trouble finding vendors that have them. There's a "Lost Squadron" set that would be awesome.

Going to do some searching for teh Techmod stuff and stop at a local hobby shop today and see if she can get me anything.
