Hello Hermann
She turned out really nice!!!! Excellent!
Now that you have some aircraft experience .. how is this diversification from armour? Do you still like aircraft modelling? What are the differences ....
all the best
Steffen

Thanks Steffen and Terri!! Armor will always have a place in my heart, but I must say that I'm started to get more satisfaction from building airplanes. I see myself more concerned with the level of detail and I'm constantly test fitting the main components as airplanes seem to be more unforgiving then armor (as I mentioned before, with armor, it easy to cover-up mistakes then it is with airplanes). I also love 1/48 scale over 1/35. Next on the chopping block will be Eduard's FW-190 (my old friend) I guess that my poor Tiger I will have to wait again!!
Thanks to everyone for their pointers, constructive criticism and inspirations

Hi Herman
I am glad that you still like aircraft. Eduard models are not the easiest models to begin with and you are right: to me it also seems that aircraft are less forgiving ... Well, I come from the other side of the game and I love the occasional Military model (1/48 of course) ... just try one of Tamiyas 48 scale tanks or verhicles ... just for fun, no etched parts or superdetailing ... I just built the Tilly oob, great little project.
cheers
Steffen

Great job on the Bf 110, Hermann. The end result is really good.
I also come from the Armour field and still builds as many AFVs as aircraft. I think the luftwaffe camouflage was what got me into trying aircraft - and Aeroscale has helped.
Aircraft are definitely less forgiving than AFVs. A lot of mistakes can be hidden with heavy weathering and/or mud.

It's a great looking job on a model that is definately not the easiest subject out there too. Still one of my favourite aircraft and model kits just the same. I really have to do the Iraq version that i've been planning.

A fantastic completed build, but it is wrong in some things. The yellow fuselage band should be OVER the fuselage code, not under it. On the port side of the aircraft, it is over the rear of the number '3'. Here are two photographs of 3U+FM to illustrate what I mean:
These photos appear on page 109 of 'Zerstörer Volume 2' in the Classic series on Luftwaffe Colours.
Note the spinner tips are in the Staffel colour of white, not yellow (that would be 6. Staffel within the Gruppe).
Note also that the cable running along the top of the port side fuselage does not angle downwards at the point where two fuselage panels are joined, but at the mid-point in a panel. See the photo below of S9+AH of 1./Erpr. Gr. 210 which shows it clearly (I have posted this larger than 800x600 so that the cable can be seen better).
Finally, on the aerial wire that runs to the fin, note that just before the wire reaches the top of the fin, a wire drops vertically and attaches to the lower part of the fin, so there are attachments at two part of the front of the fin. fernando Estanislau's drawing from our 'C, D & E' book illustrtaes this point. There's a great photo of this attachment in 'Die Deutsche Luftwaffe, Zerstörer-und Nachtjagdverbände Teil 2' by Michael Meyer and Paul Stipdonk, page 16 bottom.
Hope all of the above helps.

Thanks John for the input and pointers. I'll keep them in mind for when I build another bf-110. I'm quite happy with the end result of this build and I'll keep it as is. Thanks again!!

Hi Hermann
Great job, love the finish. Have had the Royal Class pack in the stash for a while and you may have just inspired me to start tinkering.

excellent build Hermann, I'm both impressed and envious. Always curious though, why everyone (including me) refers to an aircraft as "she"? It seems right, though.

Nice build Hermann. I always wondered why the Swastika was located on that part of the tail. I have two 1/48 scale Mauve BF-110G2/3 in the stash. One of them might be built in the future. Good job Hermann.Wingman out.

WOW!
Words fail me. Excellent job.
By the way, did you add white into the base color?
