My work took me through Cambridge a couple of days ago, and it gave me chance to nip across to the Eagle Pub.
The roof of one bar contains airforce related "graffiti" dating back to the 40's. Most of the writing was done with candle flames or lipstick.
In more recent times, visiting veterans have signed the walls and thankfully the ceiling is listed so it cannot be touched.
Sorry for the quality of the photos, I didnt have my better camera with me. It wasnt the beer,,honest,,,,,lol.

Great, Nige. If you go there again, could you get a sharper picture of Robin Olds signature? Thanks for the photos.

Hi Nige

It must be the camera, although everythings a bit blurry at the moment. Long old days.

I love that pub. More or less on my doorstep so have spent a good few hours gazing up at the ceiling in thought with a Guinness.

Nice work Nige.

A great place with a great history. It's almost too bad I'm going to Hahnweide in stead of Duxford this fall, but I guess the horizon must be broadened. The beer however, is just as fine in Germany, and I guess my german needs a bit of polishing!

I know the feeling - you've got a pile of versatube to really slow you down as well.
Good Luck

Nice place!
I visited Cambridge in 2002, when I went to Saffron Walden in a college called Friends' School.
I went there several times, wandering around the centre after climbing off the bus at Silver Street. It was a rather nice town!
Where is this pub exactly located?

It's in Cambridge town, just across the street from Kings college. If you open wikimapia.org, look up Cambridge and search "eagle pub", you'l find it, but I don't seem to get the link to work.

Cheers Tony
