The truth about "what if" topics is they have some basis in reality and fiction. The real trick is to see what you can get away with when it comes to creating something new. At the end of 1918 the French had a fellow that privately funded the building of what amounted to a Farman Triplane bomber, reconn flying on two 80hp rotaries. I have seen a photograph and Eegads! What a turkey vulture!
There was a series called the "Aeromodeller" some years ago that tapped into some very cool info not usually seen in mags of the day (circa 1969 -74?) But one issue was a complete spoof on Albischmitts and Fockers . The unit was manned by former frustrated interior decorators.
In recent years a good fellow had a WWI modeling ring that had great links and some great scratchbuild and kit crash beauties. He had a humorous side of the site that talked about Jasta 38DD. The aircraft were quite bizarre in their markings as you may imagine.
Whether its a gulwinged Hurricane or a biplane messerschmitt I submit its great to let your creative juices flow. Do something that makes other viewers go, ". . .Did they really do that?. . ." Model On! and enjoy!

As a bit of light relief can I possibly suggest a "what if?" aircraft naming thread. I would suggest from England the Hawkermarine JB-007 Spitoon, From Germany the Fockescmitt Bfw-110990 Schnitzel, from Japan the Mitsujimanishi A6Ki-43M2-61 Kimono, from the USA the Voughthrop PF-B-517 Flying Super Temptress. and from way Down Under the CAC (Curious Aircraft Corporation) IC-69 Wirrawang.
Just a thought.......

Hi Stephen
Flitzer and I have had planned a bit of fun with an Me 262 naval version for a long time now... I've got all the details sorted in my head (it actually makes a lot of sense as a 1945/6-vintage carrier aircraft!) and we even invented a suitable German nickname for it. It'll appear on Aeroscale on of these days when eveyone's least expecting it...
All the best
