I just got the revell 1/32 beaufighter kit the other day, and noticed in the paint scheme section of the instructions that the 2nd version shown has no scheme shown on the aircraft...just 3 paint callouts;
"firery red, matt brick red and anthracite"...no paint manufactures either. Can anyone shed some light on this paint scheme?
The aircraft in question is the Beaufighter IF, AFDU, duxford march 1941...the testing facility as I recall. What kind of paint scheme is that?

That's some odd-sounding colors! Usually Revell only lists the callouts for their own colors (with paint number codes and no color description), so your left to decipher the paint codes on your own.

I know, the paint scheme sounds wild but when I googled it I came up with nothing.

Any chance you could scan the illustration from the instructions an post it here so that I can see the scheme they suggest?
When I built mine a few years ago the options were for a day-fighter in green/grey/sky and a night-fighter in all black.

Ah, see now that's the very problem...the outline of that aircraft is there, but the inner camo lines, any arrows for color sections or even any given area of color is missing.....someone forgot to fill that all in. All that's given is 3 colors needed at the bottom with no description where they go at all.

OK........that was clever of 'somebody'
I suspect that the scheme is as follows :
Fiery Red - prop spinners
Matt Brick Red - exhausts?
Anthracite - to represent a 'scale' matt black night finish overall.
The front ring of the cowling is probably noted as brick red, but is usually a deep copper/bronze colour
The AFDU was a unit formed to develop new fighter tactics, including nightfighters - a role that the Beau was often used for.
