I am interested in locating information on small scale kits of these Korean War and Cold War photo reconnaissance aircraft - the RB-29 variant of the B-29, and the RB-36 recon Peacemaker. My uncle, SSgt Robert Bjorkman, served on both during the Korean conflict as well as during the first Frenchman Flats & Yucca Flats A-bomb tests in 1951 and 1952.

I had the chance to reconnect with Bob recently, and he was a wellspring of information about his role in the photo recon missions as well as recalling fine details about specific camera equipment on board the big birds - and how they were maintained & operated!

I'd like to build a (relatively) small version of both of these bombers for Bob as a gift - do either come in 1/144th? And how big would a 1/72 build be?

I know I will be web-surfing for more ideas, but I thought I'd start here first - with the model experts!

Thanks for any ideas -
Adam

Well, it looks like the Hobbycraft RB-36 is my 1/144 ticket for that scale version of the "big stick", and I found the RB-29 (or just B-29) in 1/144 by Minicraft (Bock's Car model) - anybody built these little 1/144 relics? Like to build/represent both as photo recon variants during Korean War era.
