I just started the old Airfix BOB set (Lanc, Spit, Hurri). It's 1/72 which I haven't done since coming back to the hobby about ten years ago. I thought it would be quick, easy and therapeutic as I'm having time off following a bereavement. Wrong! not many parts but they are fiddly b**gers and don't fit very well.
I am enjoying doing them though. I'm hoping to do the two fighters in a week which is light speed for me!
Respect to you who do these smaller scales.
Steve

Hi Stona.
All I can say is that if James at the "office" can build this set then for a man of your obvious talents it should be no problem whatsoever.

Nige..
( i'll get me coat)

No chance - these will definitely be "out of box". I have enough trouble with1/32 photo etch

Cheers

Sorry for your loss stonar. Take care of yourself at this time.

Is it really that much harder in small scale? I've only ever done 1/72.
The only exception being a d.520 in 1/48. I guess it does feel roomy in 1/48.
But that just means more room to pack in detail.
Mind you folding bits of PE a mm or less long is... interesting. We really do need help.

I'll try and remember that John when the next P.E part flies halfway across the room .

Thanks Jaypee.
I don't think 1/72 is really harder, I mean there's a lot less bits for a start! It is fiddly, I found it quite hard to get into some areas to sort them out (Spitfire wing root ). I also mixed far too much paint for the first colour, probably enough for about four models! On the plus side joining the fuselage halves was like making a 1/32 drop tank

Could I add that ,planning ahead, I'm just trying to figure out how I will mask for the camouflage. Looks like that will be, well, fiddly too. lol
